What do I wear for a boudoir session?
This is probably the most common question we get when clients book with us -- and that is totally normal cause this is not exactly the backyard barbecue with grandma taking your picture for memories later on! These sessions definitely have a different vibe and feel to them but outfits do not have to be as complicated as you would think.
That's right you do not need to have as complicated of outfits for a boudoir as you are probably thinking you do.
You do not need to run out to an expensive or fancy lingerie store and spend 100s of dollars on outfits
Honestly you probably already have everything you need in your closet already!
First I am going to start with unconventional wardrobe ideas
Things you REALLY would not think are boudoir outfits
Body Chains
Body chains are super sexy and something you can do either over a bra and pantie set or without! You can go for a simple and fine looking piece that makes you stand out more or something that is really blinged out to draw attention to it and you! Body chains are also super great transition pieces. This means if you want to shoot nude or topless but you need a little time to get there and get comfortable, body chains are perfect! Personally i prefer the look of just the body chain with out a top or bra, it gives you the feeling you are still wearing something and panties are still on and work as a great stepping stone if you are considering full nude or topless by the end of your session !
Fur Coats
If you are feeling fancy, fashionista-ish a great addition to bring to your session, a fur coat. It is super glamorous, super sexy
and super unexpected. Not only that the texture of it and the layers make for a dramatic look to your session. Paired with some panties and a bra or topless under and you have one heck of a knock out outfit and something not everyone is going to have for their session!
Leather Jacket
Just like the fur coats , leather coats make a great and bad ass look to any session. It gives you an edgy and rebel feel to your session.
They give a dramatic look that is more edgy and paired with panties/ bra or topless just like the fur coat and you have that little bit of a bad girl feel to your session without having to go out and spend a lot on it!!!
You probably already have everything you need for a session!
That is right like i said above you already have everything you need or everything to put together a bad ass, kick ass set of outfits for your session
Lets start with the basic
* White Tee or Tank
That's right! Its literally that simple as to bring a white tank or tee!
Not only do they make amazing regular looks in a variety of our studio locations to shoot in and lets face it a white tank or tee with new bra
MUAH
But not only that at the end of every session we do a wet shirt / fake shower portion for your session
to make that white tank or tee even sexier then it is normally on you!!
( Ps. you can even bring a plain black on as well it wont work for the wet portion but it will still look great through out the studio)
* Matching Bra & Panties
They don't even need to be actually matching set , just a set that goes well together!
Variety of colors is always encouraged - best colors for the studio are
Red, dark blues, teal, green, plum, white, black , peach/pinks
Really any color is great and workable these just seem to be the best matches our studio decor.
* Fishnets / stockings
These make great additions either on their own or with a bra and pantie set.
Not only are they sexy they add texture, give something to lead the eye up your body
as well as giving you something to play , pull and tug at for that hand interaction!
* Over sized Sweaters
Not too big but not too small! You want it just tight enough to hug those curves but loose enough
that you can let a shoulder drop down to play coy, sexy and innocent as well!
These can be regular cotton, knit whatever your heart desires they all look great!
* crop tops
Yup! They are sexy when not used for boudoir
Even sexier matched with a pair of panties
Nothing sexier then some under boob sneaking out with a sexy set of panties on
* Button up shirts
I am usually the first to say do not bring anything to baggy cause it hides curves..
HOWEVER - the nice thing about button up shirts whether its your or your spouses,
is that they can be tied, up to show off the curve and still be loose enough to drop the
shoulder down to give that cute and coy look!
Now of course with every kind of session not just boudoir
There are some things you want to avoid bringing to a boudoir session
A few of the main things we advise to avoid bringing
* Jerseys'
Though a lot of ladies want to bring in something that ties one of their spouse's favorite sports teams or bands etc
We usually recommend not to bring those to session. Not cause we do not want to incorporate that into your session,
This causes a few problems when it comes to a session
1) It hides your curves and the shape of your body more then you want for a boudoir session
2) they are bulky so its more to work with making certain poses you may want more difficult or not flattering anymore
finally they limit what we can do pose wise due to how big and bulky they are
IF you want to do something like this - we recommend you buy a tank or tshirt with the logo on it
When you do buy ONE SIZE SMALLER then you normally would and give it a cut down the neck line to allow the cleavage to pop!
This allows you to incorporate that love for your spouse but also give you as much chance and variety in posing
* Corsets
As beautiful as they are ( trust me i have a few myself) these are very very limiting on what we can do pose wise
Due to the boning in the corsets it limits your ability to bend, twist, and shape the body as we do for boudoir
This makes your pose availability very limited to mainly standing or laying on back shots leaving not much for your gallery in that outfit
*Baby dolls
While i am not completely against them I do usually advise to not bring these either not cause they are not adorable and sexy
but because with MOST baby dolls they are made loose at the belly area
From my experience shooting over 200 women the tummy area is the most common area in our questionnaire that women wish to conceal
Wearing something that is loose around the belly sadly does not help in hiding or concealing that at all.
Actually it does the exact opposite, it draws attention to and can make that area appear larger then it actually is
This is why we recommend not bringing those unless this is something you are not worried about or is a favorite outfit of your spouse.
We will still work with them we just want you as our client to be fully aware of all aspects that can effect your session
Of course we have our favorite things that clients bring or that we tell clients to bring
Here is a short list of some of the things we mentioned above that are our favorite for you to bring
* Body suits ( if you cannot find a lingerie one try on piece bikinis - they are cheaper and just as sexy)
* Matching bra and panties - whether they are simple or fancy lingerie pieces
* White tee and tanks
* Over sized sweaters
* Robes ( sheer , lace etc nothing cotton or too thick)
* Fishenets
* Leather or fur jackets
Like i said you probably already have everything in your closet to make a kick ass line up for your boudoir session wardrobe!
Do not forget that each booking gets a prep guide from us that includes, tips and tricks for the night before, wardrobe, posing etc
This way you feel fully prepared for your session.
It also contains a questionnaire for you so we can best plan your session based on your comfort, what you want out of your session and more
As well as all that each of our bookings come with optional wardrobe consult , in which we will help you select pieces for your session , and again at studio we help you put together you pieces with you!
From start to finish we help you with every aspect of your boudoir session
Do not allow something like " I have nothing to wear" stop you cause I can guarantee you do!
Be brave, have courage and trust that we will make you look amazing
