With a boudoir session you always wonder what to do the night before to prepare yourself for your session.
While the list is not long on what to do to prep for your session
the tips in this blog will help you feel more prepared and put you at your best for your session!
Stretch the night before and morning of
Boudoir sessions are little mini work outs, fun work outs but work outs none the less.
This is because we work parts of your body that are not normally used in daily life so of course you muscles get a little more of a work out
and you will feel a little bit of a burn.
We recommend to stretch the night before and the morning of - even a few days leading up to your session to ensure that your body is ready for your session
we recommend to stretch the arms, legs, neck and back in particular as these are the main areas of you body that will be exuding the most energy through your session but a full body stretch is fully recommended.
Avoid alcohol the night before
Though it sounds like a great idea to take the edge off before your session - we recommend that you avoid alcohol the night before and even if possible 48 hours prior
to your session. This is due to the fact that alcohol actually can and usually does make your skin more red, blotchy and can cause bloating prior to session.
We do have drinks at the studio including coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cool drinks for the summer as well though all non alcoholic, we do offer these at your session
Waxing/Shaving
If you are waxing prior to session, please do so 72-48 hours prior to your session.
Waxing you are literally having the hair pulled out of your body which is going to cause irritation to the skin especially in sensitive areas
such as the bikini line, eye brows etc
This can cause swelling of the skin, redness, blotchiness and more which you would want to have fade before your session
If you are choosing this route of hair removal just be sure to allow enough time before your session for these things to reduce !
If you are shaving we recommend the night before your session, this will avoid that trouble time of razor burn a few days after like some of us are doomed to get regardless what we do!
Clean Face
When you come to the studio please be sure you have a clean face.
This means clean of all make up, and anything else
Take the time in the morning before you arrive to give your face a good wash and then moisturize before you leave the house
This will allow for the best make up application possible for your session!
Tanning
Tanning - if you plan on tanning please do so sparingly
If using a tanning bed or spray tanning please do so about a week - week and half prior to session. This will allow the color to set properly into your skin and give your skin the best look for your session
If you are using the natural sun - again sparingly please
Sun screen, sun tan lotion whatever you use based on your skin but again be careful
Sunburns and tan lines are the worst to deal with during a session and for us in post cause it is your skin tone we have to adjust.
I will note that we do not edit out sunburns or tan lines unless requested - if it is requested this is charged additionally as again they are the most difficult and time consuming to deal with so would fall under an extensive edit.
Shower/Bath
We recommend to shower and or bath the night before your session if possible.
The day before is fine as well but night before allows your hair time to dry etc for your session instead of being in hair and make up longer
Take time during your shower or bath to soak, to just enjoy the hot water around your body and relax
Breath and just soak it all in!
These are just a few simple tips for the night before your session to help you feel prepared and ready to have an amazing time with us in studio!
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to message us, and all of these tips and tricks are also in our prep guide that we send out to each and every booking!
